Welcome to Year 6

There are two classes in Year 6. 6NA are taught by Miss Ahmed; 6HH are taught by Mr Hill and Miss Hoare. Mrs Cann and Miss Preece work with us.
Autumn Term
During the Autumn half term we will be focusing on the whole school topic ‘This is me’. This will be followed by the next topic ‘My place, My Time’, which will have a Geography and History focus, including exploring Biomes that surface our Earth and the reign of King John.
In writing, we will be using the text ‘The Boy, the Mole, the Fox and the Horse,’ to support us with the use of subordination, prepositional phrases, fronted adverbials, relative clauses and figurative language to write a setting description.
We will then be using, ‘The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion , the Witch and the Wardrobe’ as our stimulus to write a narrative.
As Mathematicians this term: we will be securing our understanding of place value and the four operations before applying our mathematical knowledge to a range of reasoning questions.
As readers we will be using the text ‘The Boy, the Mole, the Fox and the Horse,’ to make predictions and inferences; and retrieve basic information from and about the text using complex comprehension questions.
