At Hollymount School there are 2 Reception classes, RLD and RFO. They share a purpose built reception unit which includes a classroom each, a shared messy area and outdoor learning space.
As part of our learning children take reading books home every day. Please share these at home with your children as often as possible and remember to write in the reading record and bring them back in book bags every day.

Our Spring topic is ‘Light up the World’
Reception have been learning about the artist Kandinsky. Kandinsky’s art is abstract and he likes to paint shapes and used lots of colours. The children had a go at painting in his style. They used different resources to create his style. They have learnt how to mixed paints to make different colours.
Reception had a special visitor last week from Fairfield library. She told us all about her job at the library and how the library works. We read some stories together and played games. The children were very lucky to receive a story book to take home. (The Kitchen Disco)
In maths this term we have been learning all about addition and subtraction. The children have been practicing solving number problems using object to help them. We have begun looking at how to record these as number sentences.
This week Reception have been learning about the local area around our School. We have been on a walk around the local area to see what we could see.
The Reception children enjoyed the attendance reward event this week. We had a special visitor come to school to show us some amazing animals. We learnt about what they eat, where they live and even got to hold some of them.
