Year 3/4 Match vs Cranham 02/03/2016

The Year 3 and 4 football played Cranham on Wednesday 2nd March 2016. They all played very well, and went ahead with a goal from Jack. He brilliant through ball by Kuba put Jack in on goal, and he did the rest with a cool finish. Jack had a few chances to increase the lead but went narrowly wide from the edge of the area. Callum and Oliver also had chances in the first half, which Hollymount dominated.

However, in the 2nd half Cranham came into the game, helped by some dodgy refereeing decisions. Cranham finally found a way through Hollymount’s high pressing style, when a long ball got through to their cunning striker, who slotted the ball past Hollymount’s goalkeeper, Robert. The goal was overshadowed by controversy though, as a solid challenge from a Cranham player left Jack on the floor. The referee let this rough play go, angering Hollymount’s manager, Wayne Telford.

Hollymount continued to press and tried to score a winner, but started to tire. This showed when Cranham were allowed too much time on the ball, picking out their striker again. The initial shot was brilliantly saved by Robert, but Cranham followed up to tap in and secure a 2-1 victory.

Hollymount played very well and were unlucky to be defeated, having dominated for much of the match. However, the players were very gracious and showed lots of respect to the Cranham players. Man of the match goes to Jack, for his energetic and tenacious performance which he topped off with a cool finish, but all the players should be very proud of their performance.

Next match is against Dines Green in a couple of weeks.
