We started our St George’s Day celebrations with a special assembly.

In our classes we watched a film about St. George and discussed the story in groups.  Each class then did a focused piece of writing about St. George and the dragon and the best work was then put on a whole school display.

Children in Reception listened to the story and then created flags and castles and listened to ‘patriotic’ music.  They also made ‘England cakes’ and made St George’s Day cards.

Here are some pictures of St Georges week from RSS.

We did some lovely descriptive writing about dragons and wrote a simple recount of the story.
We celebrated by decorating cakes with the England flag and made flags to wave as we listened to medieval music.
We enjoyed banquets outside, dressing up as characters from the story. We also worked together to build a castle from painted cardboard boxes!
