Hollymount v Fairfield

Hollymount won this friendly against Fairfield in convincing style, with the final score 5-0. Hollymount played very well and represented the school excellently, playing with respect and passion.

All the players, from both teams, represented their schools very well and deserve credit for how they performed on and off the pitch.

The same cannot be said for Hollymount’s manager, Wayne Telford. He reacted angrily with a referee decision, which replays showed the referee got correct. Later in the match, he tried to get involved in play but failed, instead falling over like Charlie Chaplin slipping on a banana skin. This again raised concerns that his slap stick managerial style had caused unhappiness in the home support.

In contrast, the Fairfield interim manager conducted himself very well and earned a warm standing ovation at the end of the match from all corners of the stadium. This came hours after rumours linked him with several top managerial jobs, including Manchester United, Italy and Kidderminster Harriers.
